The tomb of Baba Taher Hamedani in Hamedan, better known as Baba Taher Oryan, lived in the fourth and mid-fifth centuries AH. This time coincides with the Seljuk period. Hamedan is one of the most historical cities of our country, and there are many attractions in this province.

Not much is known about the life and genealogy of the Baba Taher family. According to researchers, he died in Hamadan at the age of 85 and was buried in the same city.The tomb of Baba Taher Hamedani is located in the northwestern part of Hamedan. This tomb is one of the main squares of Hamedan today.His tomb was built in the present era and combines today's architecture with the architecture of the seventh and eighth centuries AH. Baba Taher's tomb is located in a square with rectangular dimensions. The area of the tomb and the surrounding garden is about 8956 square meters. The combination of the green and beautiful space of the square with the turquoise dome of the tomb has created a very spectacular and emotional view.The building is octagonal and its dome is in the form of a prism. The height of the building from the street level is about 25 meters. Granite is one of the main components of the facade of the building in the floor of the tomb, stairs and tombstone.

The interior of Baba Taher Tomb is a square with 10 meters sides. Outside the building are a series of prisms with optical pores. Inside the tomb, couplets of the poems of this prominent Iranian poet are engraved on marble stones. The tomb building has been destroyed many times over the years due to various factors.An octagonal brick tower which was built on the tomb in the sixth century AH was destroyed over time. After that, Hamedan Municipality started the construction of a new building during the reign of Reza Shah, which was left unfinished.It was at this time that a tile tablet from the seventh century AH was found in the tomb. The tablet has been transferred to the Museum of Ancient Iran.In 1329, an unfinished building that had been damaged was restored. In 1345, Engineer Seyhoun and Engineer Foroughi presented the plan of a new building. Construction of the tomb began a year later and lasted three years. The current tomb of Babataher is a combination of modern architecture with the architecture of the seventh and eighth centuries AH.This historical monument has been registered as a historical and national monument of Iran during the 1780 issue on May 11, 1997.
