Gallehdari historical mosque

Galledari Mosque is located in the central part of Bandar Abbas city and is one of the scenic centers of Hormozgan province in southern Iran. The mosque was built in 1917 by Haj Sheikh Ahmad Gallehdari, according to the inscription in it.

Some also attribute the construction of the building to Haj Abdul Rahim Gallehdari and consider its restoration and endowment by Haj Sheikh Ahmad. This mosque was repaired and rebuilt in 1975 and materials were added to strengthen the building. Gallehdari mosque is located in a neighborhood called Qala-e-Shahi or Uziha and is one of the famous Sunni mosques in Hormozgan province. At present, part of the courtyard of the mosque is roofed for the use of worshipers. This building has been registered in the list of national monuments of Iran with the number 3/1595.

Gallehdari Mosque is one of the most beautiful religious attractions of Hormozgan province due to its antiquity and special and beautiful architecture. The courtyard, nave, minaret and pulpit of the mosque are beautifully built. The mosque has a stepped minaret with a height of eight meters, which is cylindrical and has a minaret on it. This mosque, which is built on a plateau with a height of 1.5 meters, has a large nave with many columns and half-columns. The columns are decorated with the art of plastering. These columns and half-columns are connected by arches with broken arches and have created a surface for the wooden beam covering of the mosque. The single-minaret herding mosque has a meter altar with beautiful gypsum decorations that is about 1.30 meters deep and 4 meters high. The stone inscription of the endowment of the building, which was written in 1959, is located in a part of the nave. This inscription is very beautiful and historically valuable. There are 19 gates with wooden doors in different parts of the nave. On the east and south sides of the nave, there are porches with a row of columns, most of which are cylindrical.
