The historical city of Seymareh was one of the first registered historical monuments of Ilam province in national monuments. According to studies and excavations, this historical city is related to the early Islamic centuries.

This city was one of the first registered historical monuments of Ilam province as national monuments . This historical city has been destroyed and depopulated due to an earthquake in 1917 , and so far 9 seasons of archeological excavations have been carried out in this historical site. Beautiful nature area in winter and spring and the plastering works obtained in the excavations carried out in Seymareh historic city can be attributed to its unique characteristics .

Seymareh Historical City2Arbabi's house, Banaye Masjed (mosque's building), places around the dam and suburban residential places are among the places that have been explored in this historical monument. Also in the historical city of Seymareh, evidence obtained that shows that there were industrial centers and pottery and glassmaking were very common. The remains of pottery and glass kilns are very important documents that show part of the city's economy has been provided through these two industries. Another very important finding in "Seymareh" is a mosque that came out of the ground and shows that this building is the first mosque of the early Islamic period in Iran.

Architecture and materials of the historical city of Seymareh

The materials of the historical city of Seymareh are made of stone and plaster, and the arches built on the entrances of the passages are all cradles. The nave and porch of this mosque are decorated with very beautiful plasterwork and have a central courtyard. Excavations in this city have stated that; in the city of Seymareh (Simareh), there are signs of arches and curvatures in these ruins, as well as shadows of light from the side streets and alleys, the urban communication network system is evident in this texture.
