Shazde Garden

Shazde Garden

Shazdeh garden is one of the most beautiful Persian gardens. This garden is located about 4 km from Mahan city in Kerman province and in the foothills of Tigran mountains and belongs to the late Qajar dynasty. There are eastern and western complexes in this garden.

The mansions or the pavilions are very beautiful and are built in two floors and the propylaeum has a very beautiful architecture that makes it different from other Iranian gardens. There are fountains along the garden which attracts the attention of every viewer. They are the most beautiful fountains in Iranian gardens.
The building of Shazde garden shines like a precious diamond in the desert because of its trees and the whisper of the water flow that can be heard from every corner of the garden. Water, the source of garden life, is supplied from the Tigran flume. The flow enters the garden from the highest level and creates a designed garden irrigation system. The water that enters the garden is distributed in the longitudinal direction of the garden so that in addition to supplying water to the rows of trees along the paths, the river on the main middle axis of the garden with the creation of waterfalls and fountains becomes the main element of the quality of the garden. Shazdeh building is located in a position that makes it possible to use the maximum of original interior views as follows: At the entrance, especially on the upper floor of the house, in addition to the exterior views of the garden and the view of Chaharbagh, there are mountains on the opposite view.
The garden buildings are the main pavilion, the permanent residence, which is located at the upper end of the garden. The entrance mansion of the garden is in a linear manner and is built on two floors. The upper floor has rooms designed for living and dining. In addition to the entrance, this garden also includes a royal mansion and a bath. At present, the royal part is turned into a restaurant and is run by the private sector. Every year, tourists visit this beautiful Persian garden and enjoy its beauty and freshness. This garden was restored in 1978, but in the earthquake of 1981, it was damaged, which was finally registered by the Department of Culture and Arts with the number 1012 in the list of national monuments and was reconstructed and repaired. Shazde garden was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List on July 20, 2011.
