Shokatiyeh School in Birjand

Shokatiyeh School of Birjand is one of the attractions and sights of Birjand city in South Khorasan province. This building was built during four years from 1890 to 894 by the order of Amir Ismail Khan Shokat al-Mulk and by Yazdi architects with the aim of holding a Muharram mourning ceremony.

In 1908, Ibrahim Khan Shokat al-Mulk changed the use of the Shokatiye Hosseiniyah building to a school. With this action, he established one of the first schools of modern science education in this building, which was inspired by Dar al-Fonun school. Therefore, Shokatiyeh Birjand School is the third school of teaching in a new style after Dar al-Fonun and Roshdieh in Tabriz. The training and management of this collection was the responsibility of two Kashani scientists named Mirza Ahmad Naraghi and Sheikh Ahmad Soleimani Naraghi.
