Semnan Central mosque

Semnan central mosque is known as the oldest building of the post-Islamic period is in Semnan province. The Central Mosque is also called Adineh Mosque or Jome (Friday) Mosque. This mosque was built in the first century AH on the destruction of fire temple.

One of the most important and in fact the most prominent parts of this mosque is its minaret. The minaret of the Semnan Central Mosque is one of the historical minarets of Iran belonging to the Seljuk period.This minaret is located in the northeast corner of the Central Mosque. The height of this minaret is 31/20 meters from the ground. 2 meters higher than the roof, there is an inscription with a very beautiful design and pattern of bricks and decorated with Kufic script. Some scholars believe that this building is Manar Janban and even consider it to be the oldest Manar Janban in Iran.This mosque has changed a lot over time. Historical monuments of the Seljuk and Timurid eras can also be seen in this mosque.

Semnan Central Mosque has a porch and courtyard, winter nave, south nave, Aba Harb Bakhtiar nave, north nave.

This porch is connected to the dome in the Semnan Centeal Mosque and has a height of more than 21 meters. It was built during the reign of Shahrokh Teymouri and by his minister Khajeh Shamsuddin Ali Balijeh Semnani. In the upper part of the porch and on its body, there is an inscription made of tiles that starts from the north side of the porch and continues after passing from the west side to the south end. The opening of the courtyard is 10.40 meters and behind it there is a square mausoleum with a length and width of 14 steps and a height of more than 14.5 meters which is covered by the Seljuk dome and through two small doors on both sides of the altar to the courtyard of the mosque. And with a few large and small doors, it leads to the surrounding naves. The courtyard of this mosque is rectangular. Its length is 27 meters and its width is 25 meters. The northern nave of the Grand Mosque consists of 16 circular and thick columns on which the multiplicative arches of the nave are based. The east nave is separated from the north nave by the southeast entrance and the south nave by the north.

Winter Shabestan

The oldest nave of this mosque is called the winter nave, which is the most important part of this mosque in Semnan province. This nave is built in Khorasani style in the southern part of the mosque.

South Shabestan

This nave is located on the south side of the mosque and on top of the winter nave and has 16 circular columns in the middle and 8.5 columns on the east wall that form the bases of the 27 arches of the nave.

North Shabestan

The northern nave of the Semnan Central Mosque consists of 16 circular and thick columns on which the southern arches of the nave are based. This nave was built by Khajeh Nezamuddin Semnani and the door of the northern corner that connects the mosque to Imam Khomeini Street and Ala-e Dowleh Bazaar and is exquisitely inlaid is located next to this nave.
