Moghaddam House and Museum in Tehran

Moghaddam House and Museum in Tehran was one of the luxurious houses of the Qajar period. This house belonged to one of the courtiers of that period named Mohammad Khan Ehtesab al-Mulk.

Ehtesab al-Mulk had two sons, Hassan and Mohsen, who went to Europe to continue their education. Hassan, who was actively involved in literary, political and social activities, died at a young age. His younger brother Mohsen returned to Iran after completing his studies in painting, art, history and archeology in 1937 and lived with his French wife Salma in his father's house, which is the current location of Moghaddam House and Museum. Mohsen Moghadam and his wife, in addition to their scientific activities, collected historical and cultural objects and monuments. They have installed many of these valuable works such as tiles, shards of pottery, fireplaces, mirrors, etc., inspired by ancient spaces, in a very beautiful way in different parts of this historic building. They also kept some of their collections in this house. His collections include a collection of textiles, pottery, a collection of stamps and coins, a collection of hookahs and pipes, glass, paintings and historical documents. He died in 1987. The tutelage of Moghaddam House and Museum of Tehran was given to the University of Tehran directly after the death of his wife in 1990.
