Chak Chak temple

Chak Chak temple is one of the most important and well-known Zoroastrian shrines located in the heart of the mountain. Every year since June 15, for four days, many Zoroastrians gather in this place and pray. Mehregan celebration is also held every year in this shrine.

According to the narrations, this place was the refuge of Nik Banu, daughter of Yazdgerd (Sassanid king) from the Muslims. The architecture of the buildings in this area is in perfect harmony with the topography of the area, and the buildings are located on a steep slope in approximately five irregular floors. So that the roof of the first floor is the yard of the second floor and the fire temple is located inside the cave at the highest point under the mountain. Special etiquette must be observed to enter the shrine. The entrance of the fire temple is a gold-plated metal with an Achaemenid pattern. Se Kuhe is the name of a land that is known as Seh Kuhe village. This village is formed from the retreat of the water of Zabol plain and has three ridges that come out from under it as the water recedes. Se Kuhe village is located on the way from Zabol to Zahedan and in the slope part.
Many people believe that the architectural features of this region dates back to the Afshari period. Due to being located along the Helmand River, Se Kuhe village has been completely submerged and later, by changing the direction of the river, it has found a way to get out from under the water and has appeared as three ridges or three mountains on the land of Sistan plain. Therefore, Se kuhe first came out of the water as 3 islands and then gradually, with the retreat of the river plain water, its entire area was taken out of the water. Inside the temple, there is a large sycamore tree that is more than a thousand years old. The floor of the temple is covered with marble and the roof is made of stone. Water drops are dripping from part of the roof. Containers have been placed on the floor of the compound to collect holy water and eat it. Inside one of the rooms there is a well more than 50 meters deep. Several candle flames are permanently lit in the temple and there is a place to burn incense or sacred wood. There are also pictures of Zoroastrian elders in this temple. In addition to the old sycamore (with national registration number) and shrine in this mountainous area, a cave with beautiful limestone chandeliers is also one of the natural attractions of the region. Electrical facilities, drinking water and a number of rooms have also been provided for the well-being of visitors in this shrine.
