Zanjan Rakhtshoykhaneh historical complex
The historical complex of Zanjan Rakhtshoykhaneh (Laundry) has been built in the heart of the historical area of Zanjan in a densely populated residential area. Zanjan is the capital of the province.
Zanjan is one of the largest cities in northwestern Iran and the fourth largest city in Azerbaijan.This city has many sights. As one of those place, we can mention Zanjan Rakhtshoykhaneh which is one of the most famous attractions. This building has its own unique features and architecture, it can be said that it is unique in the world too.
The contracture of Zanjan historical complex
Zanjan Rakhtshoykhaneh was built in 1347 AH, coinciding with 1928, by two brothers named Mashhadi Akbar and Mashhadi Ismail.Mashhadi Akbar was in charge of the architecture of the building and Mashhadi Ismail was in charge of masonry of the building. Ali Akbar Towfiqi (the mayor of Zanjan), who was the head of the municipality, bought the construction site of the Zanjan Rakhtshoykhaneh and then ordered to build it.The architectural style and design of this building can be attributed to the style of the late Qajar and early Pahlavi periods. The historical complex of the Rakhtshoykhaneh has been registered in the list of historical monuments of Iran.
The Rakhtshoykhaneh room has a tank with a length of 17 meters, a width of 5.1 meters and a height of 8 meters, which is roofed on the rafters and walls with three units of arch.Up to a height of four meters, the interior walls are covered in such a way that it is possible to fill the water to that level, if this happened, there would be a capacity of 740 square meters.The space of this tank is dedicated to the construction of a terrace where you can have complete control over the laundry while standing.The design and building of the interior and main space of Zanjan laundry is very beautiful and its hall has eleven columns that are symmetrically divided into two parts.The distance of 11 columns that have symmetrically divided the hall into two parts in the symmetrical direction consists of four units of ponds and water pipes (in the distance between the ponds) and its borders are separated by carved stones made of travertine. This space has a hall with a width of nearly 14 meters and a length of 62 meters and an infrastructure area of 850 square meters.
